LETTER FROM OU

YUKON HS SENIORS..
FIRST AND FOREMOST CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR UP AND COMING GRADUATION! I HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A PLAN FOR YOUR FUTURE, EDUCATION IS GOLDEN. IF YOU HAVEN'T DECIDED WHAT YOUR GOING TO DO I HIGHLY RECOMMEND APPLYING TO COLLEGES AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE LONGER YOU PUT IT OFF, THE MORE PROBLEMS YOUR GOING TO HAVE GETTING TEST SCORES SUBMITTED, OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS TO THE COLLEGES AND GETTING INTO CLASSES YOU WANT. BE SURE TO ENROLL INTO CLASSES ONCE YOU GET ACCEPTED TO AS SOON AS THEY OPEN UP, THE SOONER YOU ENROLL THE MORE LIKELY YOU ARE TO GET INTO THEM. FINALLY, IF YOUR GOING TO GO TO OU DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID BY THINKING THAT WHEN YOU APPLY TO THE NORMAN CAMPUS THAT YOUR APPLYING TO THE HEALTH SCIENCE CENTER. THEY'RE 2 SEPERATE CAMPUSES AND IT'S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO GET IT ALL SQUARED AWAY!
GOOD LUCK!

BYSTANDER BEHAVIOR

PEOPLE ARE BYSTANDARDS EVERYDAY WHETHER THEY REALIZE IT OR NOT. I BELIEVE SOME OF THE BYSTANDARDS THAT HAVE REALLY MOVED ME ARE THOSE THAT REFUSE TO TAKE ACTION WHEN SOMEONE IS HURT OR IN DANGER (I.E. A FIGHT BREAKING OUT BETWEEN TO GANG MEMBERS WHERE THERE'S BEEN A STABBING). COLLEGE STUDENTS INPARTICULAR ARE BYSTANDARDS TO UNDERAGE DRINKING, ILLEGAL DRUG USE, ACADEMIC MISCONDUCT AND MANY MORE. I BELIEVE STUDENTS ARE AFRAID TO STAND UP IN THESE SITUATIONS MAINLY DUE TO THEIR BELEIVED LOSS OF FITTING IN. ONE THING I'VE BEEN A BYSTANDARD TO WAS WHEN I WAS SNOWBOARDING ONE YEAR, ON THE LIFT GOING UP, AND NOTICED A YOUNG CHILD SKIING GO OFF THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN. THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO FROM WHERE I WAS AT BUT WHEN WE GO OFF WE TOLD THE GENTLEMAN AT THE LIFT WHO WAS ALREADY NOTIFIED AND SAW THAT THE CHILD WAS ALREADY BEING HELPED ON OUR WAY DOWN. AGAIN, WE ARE BYSTANDARDS EVERYDAY TO THINGS THE QUESTION IS WILL WE BE THE ONE TO STAND UP AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE?

PRIORITIES

WOW have my priorities ever changed over the last year. When i graduated HS my only priority was to go to college, have fun and just take it easy. Now that I've been in school the last 4 years I have more "life priorities." I'm tired of being in school and i'm trying to bust my butt to get done! I think that after so long of being a full time student each semester I'm starting to get burnt out. My priorites now are to actually graduate college, obtain a career in the field I'm majoring in, get married, move away and start a family.

INFLUENCES

Many people i've came across in my life have influenced my whether they were aware of it or not. These unique people include everyone from a lovely lady who comes in my bank that doesn't have more than a single space heater in her home (which was really uplifting to listen to how she made it through our ice storm just a few days ago) to what someone wears or how they carry themselves. The most influential person in my life has by far been my priceless mother. She's worked 2 jobs to support my brother and I, always encouraged me to follow my dreams, lived in the United States away from all her family in Canada so my brother and I could finish school, and been my best friend through thick and thin. Although much has changed since high school, she's still had the greatest impact on my life. In regards to seeing things from a different perspective and being a better listener to what people have to say or teach me, I do believe I am better at these types of qualities and that being such a person can really make you see the world from a different view. Letting people into your life can be very influential and beneficial so I think letting my gaurd down has really made me a better person.

Here's Me...

A simple picture of myself, Krystal,
on my very first blog posting. I'm
looking forward to start this whole
blogging thing. A few things about
myself: I absolutly love my dog to
death and he has me wrapped around
his finger, I am addicted to the HBO
series True Blood, and I'm hoping to
get accepted in the Fall 2010 semester
to the Dental Hygiene program at the
Health Sciences Center in OKC.
